With the increasing of China’s economic strength and the rising of its international status, more and more Chinese scientific and technical texts need to be translated into English to further promote and expand international cooperation and exchanges in various fields. However, the research achievements of Chinese-English translation of scientific and technical texts are far from enough, and the methods and skills of Chinese-English translation of scientific and technical texts are not complete.This report, taking the translation project of the Report for Project of Silica Gel entrusted by Shenzhen Wish Co., Ltd. as an example, is aimed at analyzing problems existing in the Chinese-English translation of scientific and technical texts, and putting forward some methods of translating Chinese scientific and technical texts.The main contents of this report include research background, objective, significance, and structure, description of the source and main contents of the translation project, and pre-translation analysis and preparations. Besides, features of the source text, including features of vocabulary, sentences, and discourse, are also discussed, and the relevant translation principles of Chinese-English translation of scientific and technical texts are put forward. In addition, the report also discusses how to use translation methods to solve practical problems in the translation project in details. Finally, the author makes a summary about translating the project and some constraints and deficiencies in the translation.The research method of this report is adopting methods such as literal translation, free translation, conversion and combined translation, etc., to solve the translation difficulties of technical terms, no-subject sentences, long complex sentences and discourse in Chinese scientific and technical texts.The theory and practice significance of this report is that the author summarizes some useful methods and provides some theory guidance for the Chinese-English translation of scientific and technical texts through this translation practice. In addition, the author also has mastered some technical terms, become more familiar with linguistic features of scientific and technical texts, and greatly improved her translation level of Chinese scientific and technical texts.
