| Nowadays,China’s science and technology are in transitional and upgrade period,whose main driving force stems from innovation.This kind of innovation driving force has a particularly significant impact on the development of the electric power field,which brings about more and more international businesses of domestic advanced science and technology.Therefore,for power projects the proper translation of technical specifications has an important impact on international businesses.This practice report discusses the English-Chinese translation of the technical specifications from the EPC for a unit project.With Nord’s and Peter Newmark’s theories,the author studies the process of Chinese translation of such technicalspecifications with dual textual features as well as summarizes the research reports.This report consists of five parts.In the first part,the author introduces the background and significance of the project and the text analysis of the source text.The second part consists of literature review,preparation and plan for translation.The third part includes the process and review for translation.In the fourth part,according to translation theories the author analyzes the case studies,and then proposes appropriate translation methods for modal verbs,terminology and long sentences.In the fourth part,the author reflects on the inadequacies of lack of theoretical foundation and professional knowledge in the translation process as well as proposes improvement methods.The author hopes that this translation practice can provide some reference for future colleagues who translate such texts. |
