Zhanghan is the main general of Qin dynasty during the peasant revolution occuring at the end of Qin dynasty. Battling with rebels, he killed Chenshe, Weijiu, Xiangliang and beat the reinforcements from Qi and Chu, hitting the rebels repeatedly and becoming the main rival and enemy to rebels who fought against Qin. Then he surrendered to Xiangyu, making Qin dynasty lose the last nation barrier, which accelerated the end of struggle against Qin greatly. The chapter one of this thesis explains the importance of Zhanghan in the history of Qin and Han dynasties through the arrangement of his life events. At the same time, it summarizes his life throughly, which presents the tragic color of his life. The chapter two discusses Zhanghan in Historical records from a historical perspective. It probes the reasons why SimaQian didn’t write biography, and give comments on Zhanghan as well as the influence of it. In contrast to chapter two, the chapter three mainly adopts literary perspective. It points out the insufficiency on the literary description of Zhanghan in the following two significant historical events: Zhanghan surrendered to Chu and Xiangyu buried the soldiers of Qin, through comparison with other literatures describing histories, which has a negative impact on the propagation and acceptance of Zhanghan. The chapter four deals with the significance of study on Zhanghan overall, which mainly sets forth it from two aspects: the first is the help given to study on Xiangyu, the other is contribution to know, propagate and evaluate Zhanghan. Owing to the special relationship between Zhanghan and Xiangyu, the study on Zhanghan provides crucial research data for knowing Xiangyu deeply, which has important academic value. |
