The Rhetorical Construction Of The Image In Wang Wei’s Poetry

Image had been the important element of poetry from Qin Dynasty to Wei Dynasty. And imagist poetry was most famous in Tang Dynasty, especially Wang Wei’s poetries with characteristic of painting in the poetry lives on today. He also was known as the poet of poets. With five chapters, this paper focused on Wang Wei’s poetry to analyze the characteristics of image construction in sentences and rhetoric in poetry.First chapter is the introduction of this paper. Firstly, it demonstrated the position of Wang Wei’s poetry which is of great research value in history. Secondly, it organized study of Wang Wei’s poetry in order to find the opening of image rhetorical construction, which is also the very purpose of this paper. Thirdly, it illustrated and defined the development of image scope.Second chapter is the discussion of the image rhetorical construction in sentence of Wang Wei’s poetry. This paper introduce the function of the three major content words in image combination to get the rhetorical construction skills in Wang Wei’s poetry and came to the conclusion that the spatiality and combination of image enable poetry to breakthrough time and space constraints, to construct unique poetry space, and finally to achieve the goal, painting in the poetry.Third chapter is the discussion in two parts of the rhetorical characteristics in Wang Wei’s poetry. The first part from the way of expression perspective analyzed the verses in the four steps of image construction, opening, developing, changing and concluding, and then came to the conclusion that image spatiality in different verses even with the same way of expression has varied influences. The second part analyzed the connection of verses in one couplet and summarized the performance of verse consistency and to briefly demonstrated the rhetorical characteristics of Wang Wei’s poetry.Fouth chapter is the postscript which include summary and shortage of this paper research.
