The Mao Shi Liu Tie Jiang Yi(《毛诗六帖讲意》)composited by Xu Guangqi was a significant monograph of Ming Dynasty for studying The Book of Songs(《诗经》),which had taken the advantages of both Han and Song Dynasty in terms of the study of the poetry, and fused Confucian Classics explanations and Literal explanations into. Many literal discussions were proposed by Xu Guangqi to explain The Book of Songs based on the study of Confucian Classics standpoint, which had shown the characteristics of the understanding of The Book of Songs in the later Ming Dynasty, and contributed a broad way to enhance the study of The Book of Songs from the study of Confucian Classics to Literature.Xu Guangqi’s Literary interpretation of The Book of Songs in the Mao Shi Liu Tie Jiang Yi mainly includes the following several aspects.Firstly, Xu focused on the skill of "Read Aloud and Make Sense", and advocated the mood of "Imagination and Re-Create", "Put one-self into a poetry", when representing a poetry, received lots of experience from previous researchers while kept his advantages. On one hand, he paid attention to the text, emphasized "fusion and clever", when he represented a poetry, and used the method of literature analysis advocated interpretation of The Book of Songs. On the other hand, when Xu interpreted a song in The Book of Songs, he emphasized to interpret it in a gentle, honest and sincere way. The methods and principles about the study of The Book of Songs, revealed his orientation in Confucian classics and literary deconstruction.Secondly, Xu Guangqi paid attention to the word, the sentence and the structure of poetry art about The Book of Songs, which were all important aspects of his literary interpretation. In discourse analysis of words, Not only did Xu reveal the emotional contents of the poetry behind the word, but also he laid emphasis on the structure of a discourse and the linguistic expressive force. Xu Guangqi attached importance to the external forms of poems, stressed interpreting The Book of Songs in the angle of poems. Xu was good at recognizing the poet tone, and he talked about poetry genre from the perspective of rhyme verse. Meanwhile, Xu kept a watchful eye on Feng (风), Ya (雅), Song (颂) from the perspective of theme, genre, style. In addition, Xu revealed the aesthetic characteristics of these songs in the aspects of impression Criticism and explained The Book of Songs from the perspective of painting appreciation.Thirdly, Mao Shi Liu Tie Jiang Yi talked about a lot of rhetoric, include metaphor, periphrasis, depiction, intertextuality, intricacy, replication, progressive relationship, alert and metonymy, which showed views on rhetoric and paid attentions to expression techniques of Xu’s and expressed the feature of Xu’s explanations on poetry.Forthly, from the perspective of poetic history, Xu had paid much attention to the paradigm of art about The Book of Songs. Xu made reference to the role and origin of The Book of Songs several times in the book of Mao Shi Liu Tie Jiang Yi, and pointed out that hereafter generations of literature followed The Book of Songs. In the interpretation of a poem, he cited later similar poems to explain The Book of Songs. This approach reflected poetic interpretation of the book of poetry. Xu revealed The Book of Songs for later literary works as art peak position and praised the book of great artistic skills.Xu guangqi’s interpretation about The Book of Songs that embodied the distinctive literary features had a greater impact on later literary scholars (e.g., He Yisun, Wang Fuzhi, Yao Jiheng,Fang Yurun and so on), and provided a blueprint for future generations of literary interpretation of The Book of Songs. Xu Guangqi’s interpretation of The Book of Songs had made a positive contribution to The Book of Songs in the history of literal explanation.
