Henry Moore is one of the most influencial sculptors in the 20th century.He has created lots of sculptures popular throughout the world, connecting western and the orient aesthetic standards, modern and ancient artistic elements appropriately, deriving from western modern arts, orient arts and original arts. The thesis includes 3 parts. The first part mainly discusses how the artistic language of Henry Moore formed and the confluent points between Henry Moore’s artistic concepts and Chinese traditional aesthetic standards. The second part plays a key role in the whole thesis. Accordingly from the perspective of "Yin and Yang"to discuss the artistic forms of holes, strings, and broken body among sculptures of Henry Moore, and "harmy between the heaven and human"to discuss the naturality among sculptures of Henry Moore.Besides, from the perspective of "Zen thought"to discuss the abstractness of Henry Moore’s sculptures. What’s more, from pictographic perspective and adapting with the type of colors to discuss the form and color among sculptures. Discussing Henry Moore’s sculptures from the above aesthetic standards with Chinese characteristics, which highlights the value and impact of traditional Chinese arts. The last part mainly discusses Henry Moore’s artistic achievements and the development condition of modern chinese arts. Due to immitating and praising western modern arts casually, modern Chinese arts are losing national artistic features gradually. The thesis aims to arouse national awareness of modern chinese artists through discussing Henry Moore’s sculptures in the orient perspective. We are expected that more and more Chinese artists like Wu Weishan, stick to national artistic tradition with the acquirement of modern western artistic concepts.What’s more, it’s our mission to make Chinese arts develop further to a large extent.
