Children’s literature translation is in the marginalized position of both literature field and translation area for a long time,and its theory development is relatively weak. However,Children’s literature translation is by all means of great importance both theoretically and practically. It has a function of increasing the knowledge and expanding the horizons for young readers,and is of a pivotal importance for children’s psychological development and mental enlightenment, therefore the study and research about the theory of children’s literature translation is significant and meaningful. In recent years, children’s literature translation theories are following the traditional strategies of adult literature translation. Due to the difference between the children and adult readers, the appropriate translation theory is in the desideratum to guide the practice of children’s literature translation.Through such perspectives of the translation theories as “domestication”,“foreignization” and “optimization”, this thesis will discuss about the specific strategies,tactics and results of the children’s literature translation theories and practice, which is based on the English classical children’s literature the wind in the willows.This thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter One introduces the purpose of this thesis and children’s literature translation studies both at home and abroad; Chapter Two explores the practice of children’s literature translation theories,especially the theory of "optimization",in the light of assimilation and dissimilation and the similarities and differences with other traditional theories; Chapter Three is dealing with the analyze of the two different versions of the wind in the willows, embodying the characteristics and advantages of the “optimization” theory;Chapter Four is conclusion, to summarize the "optimization" theory and its significance of children’s literature translation theory.
