The status quo of research on rewriting of Eileen Chang’s novels in her late time has obvious shortage. With the publishment of her old works and posthumous works, Eileen Chang’s self rewriting has increasingly become a problem worthy of discussion. Rewriting of the novels is particularly prominent. The essay put the history of Eileen Chang’s self rewriting of her novels into three stages.In the third stage of Eileen Chang’s rewriting process, her rewriting is diachronic and greatly changed, such as the Eighteen Springs, The Golden Cangue, Little Rreunion, the meanings of the work and the tone has changed significantly. The reason for Eileen Chang’s rewriting of her novels includes four points. Firstly,Natural changes of Eileen Chang’s art creation path;secondly,the influence of traditional literature has deepened;thirdly,the inevitable choice of her present situation. The meanings of Eileen Chang’s rewriting are to practice her own unique literary style, to maintain the independence and integrity of the pursuit of art;to become part of the world literature. Eileen Chang takes rewriting as new creation, refuting the popular view that her creation gradually dried in her late time. Eileen Chang once again demonstrated her unique literary value by repeated rewriting.The paper includes an introduction,four chapters and thirteen sections. The introduction provides an overview of the Eileen Chang study, demonstrates the the three aspects of existing limitations and the necessity of further research of the study. According to the time sequence, the study of Eileen Chang’s novels rewriting can be roughly divided into three stages, to have an overlook of Eileen Chang’s history of novels rewriting. There are three reasons for the rewriting of Eileen Chang’s novels. To clear the scope of the study.The first chapter analyses comparison of Eileen Chang’s intral-langual and diachronic rewrite of her novels, substantially rewritten, the meanings of the works and the tone will change a lot. The first section is the comparative reading of The Golden Cangue to and its rewrited text.pointing out the drama and plain meaning changes, from "complete person" to "incomplete figures". The second section is the comparative reading of Eighteen springs and its rewrited text, the specific place half life fate, and analyzed the style from the revolutionary high spirits to a desolate plain tone. Third comparative reading is The Sing-song Girl of Shanghai and its rewrited text, analyzing her pursuit of Chinese traditional literal style simple and natural.The second chapter includes comparative differences in trans-language text of Eileen Chang’s novel rewriting, and analyses the strategy of rewriting and follow the law of literary creation. Eileen Chang’s inters-languaal rewriting reflects a strong creative consciousness, is a kind of literary creation, is to use another language to tell a story, how to speak, focus on what is completely depend on who is telling the story. The first section of text Stale Mates and its Chinese text, the discussion of Eileen Chang’s trans-language rewrite "could not be called translation". Self adaptation is the biggest characteristic of Eileen Chang’s late creation, the readers and researchers consider Eileen Chang the evaluation is not high, even in the same old stuff, is on the decline, is the creative force exhausted, but she insisted on herself addicted to rewrite, which causes the fascinating to explore. The first section is the primary reason that rewriting is the natural path of artistic creation. Eileen Chang would like to express herself in a unique way of rewriting. When she started writing practice, it is naturally to rewrite the classic, when she had a classic of herown, to rewrite herown classic novels to express herself is a natural choice. The second reason is the traditional literature plot deepens, Eileen Chang claiming to be a seeker of A Dream of Red Mansions and The Plum in a Golden Vase is the source of all her literatural creation, she take Chinese traditional writors such as Cao Xueqin and Han Bangqing as her model in literatural creation. The traditional literatural influence on her is in deepened step by step. The third section discussed the reasons of rewriting, her unique view of history. Eileen Chang Reggen Green (Greene) and the influence of Wells’s view of history, in her works she believes " the echo of common people’ s life". The fourth section discusses the reasons of rewriting, the inevitable choice of past and present situation of Eileen Chang. Situation of the difference between the before and after Eileen Chang rewriting is mainly reflected in the reader’s context and material life environment. The former is mainly reflected in the change of trans-language adaptation strategy, which is mainly reflected in the changes of mood creation mentality.The fourth chapter discusses the significance of Eileen Chang’s novels self adaptation, mainly divided into two parts. The first section, the significance of Eileen Chang’s novel self rewriting is to stick to the artistic independence integrity. Mainly through the comparision between Eileen Chang’s spontaneous adaptation and some of Chinese contemporary literature rewrite. Eileen Chang to rewrite herown novels, the original intention is spontaneous, and even the final release of the long repressed, is a return to art, but also more and more strictly adhere to the principle of independent art creation. The second section of Eileen Chang’s rewriting as part of a global trend to study. Is a memory write in twentieth Century worldwide, including Milan Kundla, Zweig, Proust and so on. At the same time, the national characteristics in Eileen Chang’s rewriting has become a strong support for her universal characteristics.
