Ripples Across Stagnant Water,Before The Storm and Billow, the three full-length novels written by Li Jieren, reflect the life scenarios of Sichuan people and historical events in Sichuan from the Late 19 th Century to the Revolution of 1911.Because of similarities of the time span and technique of realism between his works and ‘great river novel' in France,we often named these three novels after ‘Rivers Trilogy'.In Li Jieren's productive life,‘Rivers Trilogy' is the most classic one.He rewrote his‘Rivers Trilogy' and republished it after the China independence. And today,I'd like to make a study of the rewrite of ‘Rivers Trilogy' and devide it into three parts:The first part is the description and analysis of the actulity of the rewrite of ‘Rivers Trilogy'.I'll expound each of the work seperatly because of the different situations among them.Compared the first edition and the rewrite one,I found that Li modified Ripples Across Stagnant Water, rewrote Before The Storm and recreated Billow. And this lays the foudation for my analysis of the reason why he rewrote his works and my evaluation of the rewrite version. The second part will drill down into the reason of why Li made such a rewrite decision. In this part,I will devide the reason into three aspects based on the features of the landscape and Li's personal details: the changing and the requirement of the time, the criticism and the expectation of the fans and the disadvantages of the works and the desires of the author himself. The last part will make an evaluation of the rewrite. This part will be devided into three parts: the advatages and disadvantages of the three works and the evaluation of the value of the reversion.
