| Dragon, the product of human’s rich imagination, is not only the spiritual symbol of Chinese nation, but also the portrayal of the formation and development of Chinese culture and art in terms of totem worship and auspicious image. Dragon cultural represents the deep cultural inside information of the Chinese nation is the ancient cultural symbol of Chinese nation. People have made discussions and researches of the origin and development of dragon culture and the development characteristics and artistic features of the evolution of dragon pattern. In ancient books has a large number of literature recordation about dragon, the literature research provides the first-hand historical materials for the history of the dragon.As typical traditional Chinese decoration pattern and direct presentation of dragon image, dragon pattern was extensive used on handicraft articles such as ceramics, bronze, jade, gold and silver ware and so on. The development of dragon closely related to politics, economy, culture and dragon pattern represents the integration of multiple cultures and has direct reference for dragon jewelry design. Nowadays, dragon pattern was extensive used on jewelry, clothing, building and other fields, it has historical value, cultural value and artistic value. Dragon elements have long been used in jewelry. Despite different positioning and preference of dragon between China and the west, there are still lots of jewelry designs inspired by dragon and many famous domestic and foreign jewelry brands have released series of dragon jewelry. But there are basically no theoretical researches of the integration of dragon culture and jewelry.By searching for the text data and image data, and summarizes the cultural development history, based on understanding and analysis of the connotation of dragon culture, this paper sorts out and sums up the evolution of dragon pattern in different ages, probes into how dragon elements can be better applied in modern jewelry design, seeds to expand the design and creation thinking of dragon jewelry and finds new innovation points of dragon-based design. Under the background of traditional Chinese culture, this paper centers on design of Chinese dragon and delves into application of dragon pattern in jewelry design through research and summary of dragon culture, in the hope of providing valuable reference to dragon-based jewelry design and playing a positive role in heritage of China’s dragon culture. |
