We believe language teaching should follow the rules of language and the principle of how students learn. The teaching of vocabulary should revolve around the “core-Zi”and follow the rule of expansion and combination. Therefore the purpose of our research is to combine the linguistic study of Zi-centered theory and its teaching method with some theoretical depth. We wish that with this method adopted, the traditional difficulties like the learning of Chinese vocabulary,the training of reading and writing concerning western students could be overcome, and Chinese would no longer be a language which is “hard to learn”to those students.This thesis contains four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction, summarizes the research background.The second chapter is the foundation of teaching Chinese vocabulary based on Zi-centered teaching method’.The third chapter is the issues of teaching Chinese vocabulary based on Zi-centered teaching method.The fourth chapter is the advise of teaching Chinese vocabulary based on Zi-centered teaching method..
