Bohai(698-926A.D) is an ethnic minorite regime in north east China in Tang Dynasty, and it is also one of the important Jimi Counties of Tang Empire. Da Wuyi,who was in power between 719-737A.D., is the Second King of Bohai. He carried out a series of domestic and foreign policies These policies quickly made Bohai stronger and also had far-reaching influences on states and counties around it. This article consists of three parts, and they respectively focus on the situation of east Asia during the early foundation of Bohai, Da Wuyi’s political and military achievements and the evaluation of Da Wuyi.In Introduction, the purpose and manning of this article, the situation and feasibility and innovation of this study as well as the research methods are introduced. Part One focuses on the situation of east Asia during the early foundation of Bohai. Including the introduction of Bohai’s territory, economic and military situation. Furthermore, based on the surroundings of Bohai, Part One explains the history background before Da Wuyi’s ascension and during his early years of his administration.Part Two discusses Da Wuyi’s efforts on dealing with domestic civil disturbance and expanding territory. It analyses the issues from three aspects:Neighbouring nations, Tang Empire and Japan. This part mainly talked about such incidents as Bohai’s conquer of north eastern minorities, expedition of HeishuiMohe, alignment with Japan, and attack on Tang Empire, as well as Da Wuyi’s role in these military actions and the important influence on Bohai.Part Three is an evaluation of Da Wuyi. According to the former parts, this parts analyses in detail his influence on Bohai. This part also evaluates Da Wuyi from Bohai civilian’s point of view based on the fact that he privately chose Monarch Wu as his posthumous title, so as to get a whole picture of Da Wuyi.The Conclusion part is a summary of the whole article.
