Research On The Localization Of Tibetan Catholic Faith In Tsezhong, Deqin

Deqin County,which belongs to the Diqing, is located in the middle of hengduan mountains where at the junction of Yunnan,Sichuan and Tibet as well as the parallel rivers region hinterland.There are Tibetans,lisu,naxi,bai,hui,yi,and other ethnic populations,among them,the Tibetans constituting more than 80%,so Tibetan Buddhism belief throughout the county.In addition,bon,dongba teach primordial religious culture has saved more,the outline of the colorful multi-cultural landscape together.However,In 1860 s, Catholicism spread in Yunnan Tibetan area,the faith of Catholicism has survived and has co-existented with Tibetan Buddhism,in order to ensure the smoothness and success of their preaching efforts,the Catholic Church of prohibiting Christianity chose to compromise with the cultures. This paper takes the Tibetan Catholic believers as the main research object,select Tibetan Catholic settlement in Yanmen Tsezhong village Deqin County as the investigation sites, using the theory and method of ethnology Investigate Catholic activities in Tsezhong,to clarify the spread of Catholicism,to analysis the Catholic is how to develop in the local village,To explore the process of localization of Catholicism and influence on the local people.Catholic localization is a long-term developing dynamic process,not a static result.This paper agree that,after a more than 100 years conflict and adjustment,Catholicism has become a local religion to adapt local culture system.That is to say,it is localized Catholicism,which was strongly influenced by Tibetan culture and could harmonious coexistent with Tibetan Buddhism.Hence it has the culture adaptation which could help it exsistenting and making development in Tsezhong.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction of the field point,Including the investigation of the location and the natural environment,Population and living style and traditional customs and festivals.The second part introduces the diversified religious ecological environment in Tsezhong,Introduces the Situations of Dongba religion and Tibetan Buddhism. The third part introduces the historical background of Catholicism spread in Tsezhong,thecommunication process,the church is established and the mechanism of the organization of the clergy. The fourth part introduces Catholic how to overcome the contradiction and conflict between different religions and adapt cultural environment.The last part introduces the Catholic secular life in the villages and to make analysis of the Catholic localization phenomena on the basis of the text.
