A Study On Historical Sources Of Literature Class Inscriptions Of Qian Yiji’s Bei Zhuan Ji

Bei Zhuan Ji compiled by Qian Yiji is a very important book on the inscriptions in the Qing Dynasty, which included more than two thousand people’s inscriptions who lived during the period from TianMing to JiaQing dynasty for two hundred years. It has important value on literature and historical. According to the inscriptions records in Qian Yiji’s Bei Zhuan Ji, we can not only examine and correct the mistakes on the People’s biographies writen in the books and add the related historical materials, but also help us to study the life scene and history situation further detailed two hundred years ago before DaoGuang dynasty. This paper mainly includes the following points:First of all, it investigates Qian Yiji’s family history, his research and works, which enables us to observe his compilation background and conditions of this book. With the Family Academic Context, Qian Yiji’s view didn’t limit on one point, he wrote abundant works include Confucian classics works, historiographic works and literary works. Qian Yiji once was the headteacher of Xue Hai Tang in Guangzhou, in the evening of his life he was the main speaker of DaLiang Academy in Kaifeng, those two periods of stable life provide a good objective condition for his compiling.Secondly, the paper describes the compiling style and writing process of Qian Yiji’s Bei Zhuan Ji to find method features and purport of Qian’s compilation. By investigating the related historical materials, the compiling style and writing process of Qian Yiji’s Bei Zhuan Ji are concluded. Specifically, there are four methods for compiling:"Just keeping the article’s title ","mixed", "appendix",and"excerpt".Thirdly, the third chapter and four chapter investigate and study literary inscriptions in Qian Yiji’s Bei Zhuan Ji at basic document level to explain its historical sources, that is to say the most of literary inscriptions in Qian Yiji’s Bei Zhuan Ji are root in the collected works of Qing dynasty. In these two chapters, the 68 literary inscriptions in Qian Yiji’s Bei Zhuan Ji are investigated and analyzed by order. The paper sketches the life of every inscription’s master, investigates the sources of historical facts, and then discusses the source of the master’s biography materials. At the end, it discusses the reason of incompleteness of collection.Finally, this paper discusses the influence of Qian Yiji’s Bei Zhuan Ji on inscriptions’collection in the whole Qing Qynasty and the later generations. There are Qian’s biography and authoe’s index of Qian Yiji’s Bei Zhuan Ji in appendix, which could make us have clearer understanding of Qian’s life time and the document value of Bei Zhuan Ji.In a word, this paper shows adetailed study of the book Bei Zhuan Ji and tries to reveal its historical literature value. It both attaches great importance to overall understanding of Qian Yiji’s Bei Zhuan Ji and emphasizes the specific analysis of the inscriptions included in that book.
