His hermeneutics theory presents us a kind of integral thinking, which can be seen as linking up China and foreign countries, as well as ancient and modern times. In this process, the interpreter needs to keep pace with the times, and keep an open attitude to communicate with his works. Because it is impossible that the interpretation doesn’t change as time goes by, instead, it develops constantly. Wai-lim Yip tries to explore basis of his theory from Chinese classical literary theory and then applies them into practice. In chapter two, the formation of his hermeneutics thought has been analyzed. The formation of his hermeneutics theory has a certain process, which dates back to his poem writing, his study on comparative literature and the cultural background from the May 4th Movement. These three elements lay solid foundation to his theory. In chapter three, the core theory of his hermeneutics is discussed. Wai-lim Yip’s hermeneutics theory has great openness, he devotes himself in the communication of Chinese and western cultures and the integration of theories. Therefore, he innovates the “culture mold theory”. Apart that, in his hermeneutics theory, some Chinese traditional culture, especially aesthetics theory of Taoism exists in his theory. In chapter four, it mainly talks about the integrity of hermeneutics of Wai-lim Yip, compared with western hermeneutics theory, his uniqueness has been highlighted. He breaks the rule of western hermeneutics which interprets only from the aspect of work or from readers, and he pays more attention on integrity. In chapter five, the theory value of his hermeneutics is discussed. It starts from two aspects: the discovery and revaluation of Chinese classic literary theory and oriental standard in Chinese and western communication, so as to analyze the influence of Wai-lim Yip’s hermeneutics both domestic and overseas. Therefore, his hermeneutics has great theory value.
