What makes Ji Kang different from HeYan,WangBi,XiangXiu,GuoXiang etc, t hose main metaphysicians who stress the research of ontology, purpose justifying the nor m,use the method of noting the three metaphysic works,is that the scientific method that he used in his epistemology. This difference is also the important reason which bring him historic achievement in musical philosophy.Ji Kang didn’t show much interest on the ph ilosophical ontology, what he cared about was the combination of metaphysic and physics ——"Qi"and "Zhi Li"(truth of nature).Basing on the deduction,he spent a lot of time inv estigating and studying to verify the rationality of geomancy and the law of movement,he alth keeping and psychology of music and so on. Using the conclusion from clarifying, Ji Kang built his own knowledge hierarchy. And he combined the deduction and the inducti on of this knowledge hierarchy to pursue his "Zhi Li".Ji Kang’s "Zhi Li" methodology fu ses the traditional Taoism’s thought of "unity of human and nature" and the new Taoism’ s materialism of Han dynasty. It not only stress the abstract deduction, but also emphasize the induction of experience;it not only points out the unity of nature and human, but also r egards nature as an independent object on epistemology. All these result in the verifying t hought, which is the base of science’s development. And to define the range of human’s c ognition ability is also the key point of philosophical epistemology.Ji Kang’s music resea rch which removes the mystery of Taoist music theory to a large extent,is an important branch of his ideology. It’s not only just different from the main metaphysicians’,but also unique in the entire WEI-JIN dynasty art history.
