As a kind of speech act,the flattering language is a positive evaluation on the hearer that the speaker makes,in ording to achieve some kind of communicative,but it is often hyperbolic and excessive. Through the collection of the flattering language in the Dream of Red Mansions,we have been re-defined it. And according to the specific corpus collected,we made a classification of the flattering language.For that,we found that the dominant flattering language shows a stylized features. On this basis, I furtherly explore the structure of the flattering language and the usage betown the auxiliary language and the core language.And through the observation,we found that the expression of the flattering language is also showing a certain regularity. This raises a question that What is the limiting factor of the flattering language in real life and the Dream of Red Mansions? What determines the form and the strategy that it used? In this article,we analyze the corpus by the adaptation theory of Verschern’s, and we found that the main factor limiting flattering language choice is the psychological world and the social world.
