In the second opium war, western invaders forced open the portal in northeast China. Since then, the missionaries to Yingkou for pedal will spread the Gospel of Christ to the northeast. Based on all-around investigation and compiling of extensive data, this paper is an in-depth systematic illustration and analysis of Western missionaries’ writings and comments in other forms on Manchuria society in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic period in the light of the theories and methodology of history, religious study and Cross-cultural Communicatory in search of the implications and features of the image of Manchuria society in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic period in the eyes of western missionaries and the perspectives from which they decoded Manchuria society. Through the Probe into the mixed resource of information, the dissertation presents the reality and distortion, merits and demerits, value and falsehood, and consequent mixed influences of missionaries’, record of and opinions on.Manchuria.In this paper, the text is divided into three chapters, in which western Christian missionaries left English history, the Chinese version and other information as the main reference. The first chapter to study, communication and fusion of three stages of Christian missionaries in modern missionary enterprise reviewed in northeast China. Preliminary study is filled with conflict, communication is a transition and integration is to accept each other after long time communication. The second chapter is the main body of this article, the entire chapter starting from the perspective of missionaries, to the northeast of the social environment, city, people, culture, custom, officials, war and disease, etc is described, and the northeast China local historical documents, etc. The third chapter mainly described in the preceding chapter, combined with Chinese historical literature, explore the missionary described in the northeast of social fact and inaccurate, and analyze the missionaries described the significance of literature of China and northeast works of western influence.Western missionaries’, writings on northeast society in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic period are numerous and multi-perspective, yet with shared focus on aspects of regional daily life and folk Phenomenon, showing essentially microcosmic and intuitionistic ways of observation and reflections featuring a contrast between objectivity and subjectivity. Reality presented thus and distortion coexisting reflect western missionaries had been in delicate relationship to the circumstance of Manchu.And there is no denying the fact that missionaries’. Writings and other related literature data has brought relevant influence bridging the east and the west with a specially important impact on the history of cultural communication between the East and the West, which is obviously significantly meaningful.
