In recent years, along with the large-scale enrollment of higher vocational college, students’ quality is difficult to guarantee. The students’ quality is uneven, and the gap of level between students is widening, which increased the difficulty of teaching; the traditional teaching mode is more and more difficult to adapt to this situation. In order to help every student get full development and ensures good teaching effect, educators should meet the needs of all students, teach students in accordance of their aptitude and use the stratified teaching method. Starting from the actual situation of the students, stratified teaching can divide the students into different levels according to the students’ English basis, ability and willing. According to the different characteristics of the students to carry out teaching activities,make the teaching objective, teaching content, teaching schedule, teaching method is more suitable for the students’ knowledge level and cognitive ability. So then to ensure the teaching is corresponding to the zone of proximal development of students in different level, and the students’ cognitive level will be moved forward constantly through teaching activities.Based in Wulanchabu Medical College, with perspective to intensive English for grade 2013 of students majoring in Nursing who have been teaching in stratified teaching, the investigation is operated to seek out whether stratified teaching can necessarily promote students’ learning. This study lays on solving the following questions:1. Whether is it possible for Stratified Teaching to improve student’sEnglish scores?2. Whether the Stratified Teaching has significant positive influence onstudent’s non- intelligent factors?3. Whether the Stratified Teaching has significant positive influence onstudent’s learning process?A conclusion is obtained through the investigation: stratified teaching is helpful to promote the students’ learning according to the theoreticalanalyses. However, if stratified teaching is implemented, the students’ learning cannot be improved naturally. Factors which can hasten students’ learning include: improvement of the stratified teaching mechanism, the teachers’ own qualities, the students’ understanding about stratified teaching and training the students’ ability of learning strategy. If the above essential elements are in opposite conditions are likely to hinder the students’ learning development. Due to the above questions, the following suggestions are put forward: the stratified teaching mechanism should be strengthened; the teachers’ own qualities should be improved; student s’ learning strategies should be trained.
