With the title of Human Resource Management and the Industrialization of Australian Industrial Relations, a research paper concerning industrial relations in Australia is co-written by Richard Mitchell and Joel Fetter. Its main readers are confined to the professionals mastering knowledge of human resources management. The research paper is chosen as the source language text for the translation practice and theoretical study which discusses the reasons for choosing this material and its text type in the first place, and then, analyzes language features of both source and target texts and makes rough comparisons between English text and Chinese text in business.Based on a discourse’ seven important features, namely cohesion, coherence, intentionality, acceptability, informality, situationality as well as intertextuality proposed by Beaugrande and Dressler, this paper explores some translation methods of great significance. What’s more, thorough analyses of several typical translation examples are made so as to overcome difficulties in translating. In this way, the author’s translating skills can be to some extent improved and the goal of further studying translation methods is achieved.
