Wayfinding system design is to build the main essence of spatial information systems.Maps, guide cards, logos and other wayfinding members records the name of the space,features, coding and other information, it also combing the logical structure of the space. Inorder to pass clear messages to the users, the wayfinding system design should be design in theright way.Zoos of nowaday is trying to transform to Wildlife Parks. Its spatial characteristics differfrom ordinary pure recreational parks; their ways of shows are different from the seriousmuseum; its biggest audience specially designed for children. Zoo also shoulder "animal show,protection, research,""animal science knowledge, conservation education," the nature andduties. These combined factors are the zoo guide system design need to consider.In this paper, the zoo wayfinding system as the main research object, based on the zooand other outdoor public space wayfinding system elements; analysis of the characteristics andproperties of the zoo, display mode and the audience, and how these factors influence guidesystem design and requirements. This paper also summarizes the zoo tried wayfinding systemFAQs, summed up the relevant design principles, and in the final Hongshan Zoo in Nanjing asa practice object is validated.
