Research Of Wayfinding Signage System Design With The Roads Of Zhuzhou

The integration of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan accelerates theeconomic takeoff of Zhuzhou City. As an important commoditydistribution center in mainland China and an emerging modern industrialcity with certain international influence, Zhuzhou attaches greatimportance to its overall image. Zhuzhou has a relatively concentratedpopulation including many from other provinces or cities, thus makingpathfinding a big problem and it particularly important to establish asound urban visual guide system. This is also the inevitable trend forZhuzhou to establish and deepen its image as National Sanitary City,National Garden City, National Model City of Environmental Protection,National Excellent Tourism City and Resource-saving andEnvironment-friendly City.Starting from analyzing the basics of wayfinding signage system ofurban roads, this paper sums up the development and function of urbanroads’ wayfinding signage system and classifies visual guide system fromthree aspects of motor vehicle, walking trail and map, later makes adetailed analysis on the components of wayfinding signage system ofurban roads, summarizes the relationship between pathfinder and guidesystem from two aspects of pathfinding behavior and signage system, thereby proposing the basic principle of functionality as priority in thedesign of urban roads’ wayfinding signage system.This paper in Chapter IV analyzes the development status of urbanroads’ wayfinding signage system in Zhuzhou City on the basis of aquestionnaire survey and a field research and then combined withZhuzhou’s development characteristics makes a summary of the reasonsfor the slow development of wayfinding signage system of urban roads inZhuzhou.Next, the author explains the necessity and specificity of wayfindingsignage system design in Zhuzhou, and in conjunction with Zhuzhou’scharacteristics suggests the basic principle of Zhuzhou’s design ofwayfinding signage system, and at last based on own design knowledgeimproves the design of the wayfinding signage system in Zhuzhou.
