The research of " metaphysical qualities " in literature can be used in music.The produce of metaphysical qualities in musical pieces needs several steps of refining. According to the analysis of metaphysical qualities of Roman Ingarden,the writer extracts the four stages which the metaphysical qualities help to produce a aesthetic object and uses these in musical analysis.This dissertation starts from the view of entirety include composers,performers and appreciators. It is also important for us to link the three levels of scores,sounds and psychology,and to explain the philosophical construction of metaphysical qualities in musical pieces.Not every pieces has the condition to produce metaphysical qualities,it can only be include in some special and profound works. The author summarizes the rationality of existence of metaphysical qualities in the three late piano sonatas of Beethoven from three aspects. Beethoven was very good at using the materials of sound to thinking and arguing. The sublimability and rigorous logic, abstraction and religious belief, noble nature let the three pieces reveal some special images which are higher than the materials of sound itself, the audiences who appreciate these pieces can find some secret meanings construct from them. Therefore,these three piano sonatas may have the metaphysical qualities.The author summarizes two main features of metaphysical qualities. First,it is something like mental dynamics, appears like some atmosphere and pervades in music, it can also supports the development of the core materials of music. Second, it often exists in some masterpiece, it is neither the nature of the sound itself, nor the mentality of performers and appreciators,but a sublimate state of being.lt can also reveal some secret meanings which are higher than our daily life.The musical analysis of the dissertation lay emphasis on the aesthetic dimension. There are some difference between the philosophy of musician and the philosophy of philosophers like Kant. So if we study the philosophy of Beethoven, it should be better to draw a conclusion from the acoustic features in his works.
