| This report is based on the author’s Chinese translation of Jony Ive, the first book by Leander Kahney that gives a comprehensive account of Jony’s creative life. The language of the biography is comparatively simple, which makes the translation not so challenging as that of literature except for some terminologies. However, by comparing her translation with the revised version, the author found that even the original text was easy, Europeanized Chinese still occurred a lot in her translation due to the influence of English. And this phenomenon is the outcome of language transfer. The author discusses the theory of language transfer and analyzes Europeanized Chinese at lexical and syntactic level in the hope that they can serve as reminders for herself and for other translators to use more idiomatic Chinese in their E-C translation in the future. |
