A Translation Report Of Jony Ive

With the rapid development of electronic technology, people begin to pay much more attention to Apple. Besides Steve Jobs, Jony Ive is an important person for Apple. Therefore more and more people want to know the life of Jony Ive and the stories between Apple and him. In2013, China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC) Press intended to publish the translated version of Jony Ive, and the report writer participated in the translation task.This report is based on the report writer’s own translation practice of Jony Ive published by the CITIC Press. It is divided into four chapters. The first chapter makes a brief introduction about the source, the process and the significance of the translation task. The second chapter covers translation criteria of faithfulness and smoothness, as well as main features of the original book. As the core of the whole report, the third chapter introduces the translation methods on lexical and syntactical levels respectively by analyzing the cases in the translation process under the criteria of faithfulness and smoothness. In the end, a conclusion as to the major findings and space for improvement is offered in the fourth chapter.
