Animation short film creation is a basic professional course which is learnt from first tofifth semester. Students have already practiced some basic theories of lens and learnt someconventional theories before sixth and seventh semester. They have a better feeling with theprocess. Besides, they are able to complete a single lens. In this course, students need to putthe previously learned knowledge together, and finish a full Animation short film. It isfinished by students grouping which is different from individual creation. In this way, studentswill understand the importance of cooperation. They can also know about the reality aftergraduation, for example, they can learn how to work with others, adjust the dimensionsbetween personality and collaboration and make full use of their own advantages to createanimation. This teaching method plays an important role in the following aspects: cultivatingstudents’ ability of analyzing and solving problems, which caters to the goal of this course.The thesis adopts literature retrieval method, practice method, research method and so on.It is based on analyzing the characteristics of the higher education animation film creationcourse, guided by activity theory, construction theory and Dewey’s “high school” theory. Itlearns from the procedure of the teaching design to create animation film creation teachingactivities. Huihua college of Hebei Normal University has lanched “animation short creationresearch and practice” project since2009. This project is to explore new training mode for theAnimation major. It’s an important method to increase learning interest, learning motivation,innovation ability. And it is able to effectively improve the quality of independent colleges tocultivate multifunctional and applicational talents.Through three years’ of teaching and the practice exploration, we have created more than20animation short films with an accumulating time of60minutes. In national and provincialcompetitions, we have achieved great achievements, one state-level award, two sevenprovincial-level awards two city-level awards and been shortlisted in two internationalcompetitions, occupying a leading position among the peer colleges.We have overcome many difficulties in order to provide some practical thoughts. It needsfurther research to know how to let students experience more reasonable and effectiveanimation subject. We can see that the task driven teaching method can indeed cater to thedemands of animation professional teaching and train applicational talents.
