The Study On Verbs As Adverbials In Ming And Qing Era

The purpose of this paper is to study issues of the verbs used as adverbials during theMing and Qing era.We choose Jin Ping Mei novel and Stone Story as the researchcorpus.First we according to the sentences positions, semantic relations and timeconditions set the standard of verbs used as adverbials.Under this standard, the adverbialverbs could be divided into simple form, marked form and the form of additionalcomponents.Then we analyzed all of the three forms and found out the verbs used asadverbials in synchronic and diachronic froms in the Ming and Qing era. In the twocorporas,the double syllable verbs and the verbs structure had the huge number withusing in the relatively stable and combination.Mark "zhe" in the number of much usedand mark “le” in the decline of tag used.The monosyllabic verbs used as adverbialsdecreased,the similar idiom structure increased,the additional element was more simplein the historical change.We then partationed the adverbial verbs according to the semantic category for thedivision.Action verbs occupies a great proportion in all verbs.According to the limitationand description standards to the center word verbs,action verbs can be divided intoapproach and descriptive ways. It is easier for the verbs with mark “zhe”or the additionalelement to choose the descriptive way.They always represented the action of adverbialverbs in sustainability.Adverbial verbs could also point to the subject on semantic,it wasmainly the psychological verbs,the causative verbs and the person agent verbs.Semanticpoint to predicate mainly trend verbs and some representation of action verbs.To thecomplicated structure of verbs used as adverbials,according to the inner directivity of itssemantic it could be divided into recursiving close structure, passing far structure, theparatactic type structure and coexist type structure.In the aspect of pragmatics,the characteristics of verbs used as adverbials and the mergeof the mark words all embodied the economic principle of language.And thecharacteristics of verbs used as adverbials and the merge of the mark words also embodied the characteristics of the colloquial.At the same time,the verbs as adverbialscould fit into basic rhythm words and complex rhythm words.All these reflect thepragmatic characteristics of adverbial verbs.
