The idea of Bildung is a very important part of Hegel’s philosophy. AboutBildung, Hegel give a relatively introduction in his first published book, ThePhenomenology of Spirit. In this book, Hegel shows a long picture scroll of thedevelopment of the human spirit itself to us. In his view, the development of theuniverse is a process that they own internal contradictions and self-motion. As spiritis the nature of all things, the development of absolute spirit is its own eventuallyrealized own dialectical development process.Spirit is only a link in the process of development of absolute spirit, which iscomposed of the original perceptual certainties through the perceptual, intellectual,self-awareness and rational. At the end of the rational stage, the object ofconsciousness, namely pure category, has increased to the concept of rational. Interms of its obtained universality, it has been prescribed for free and the nature ofliterature exists. This still abstract, but to the provisions of these things, is the essenceof spirituality. However, although the rational development of the spiritual essence, itis still just an abstract and formed knowledge. Compared with the common entity, italso is a kind of individual things, which arbitrarily set arbitrary law and acts as thelaw referee who has right to judge the law itself. The spiritual essence is called ethicalentity, but the spirit itself is not ethical reality yet. Abstract spirit is a kind of egowhich is opposite to the real world. However, the spirit only through such a rival of toobtain its reality and get originally belongs to the essence of its living spirit. This isthe spirit of the alienation itself, namely the content of the civilized world contains.In Hegel’s view, the ethical spirit of solid phase exist abstractly as individualthing, only through the alienation of the real world and Bildung,can it obtain itsexistence in the reality. The ego is a kind of something obtained its really quality onlywhen it alienate itself; only if it own alienate, it can be universal and obtain theuniversality of its effect and reality. The development of the spirit is a process which start from the spirit essence of abstraction, via the alienation and the Bildung from thereal world and then through the sublation of the first two links pointing to the heart ofthe moral world of state-socialism process. Each link is essential. If there is no thelink of alienation and Bildung, the spirit is a kind of abstract and empty consciousness,no access to reality, let alone to access the last link: absolute spirit.However, we know that The Phenomenology of Spirit is only theory construction.This thought has its meaning only in the field, which shows in the book, Philosophyof Right. Education idea contained in this book and the Bildung thought showed inThe Philosophy of Spirit formed a picture of theory and practice and echo each otherat a distance.Therefore, the author intends to start from the study of the concept of bildung ofetymology and its historical connotation, combining with The Phenomenology ofSpirit and The Principle of Right two classic text to comb Hegel’s blidung concept, toclarify the train of thought of spirit developing and the real connotation of bildung.And then through the investigation of methodology on the significance of the bildungmakes reasonable statement.
