The tourist brochure entitled Green Wood: The First Pass of Chongqing introduces some local folk stories and attractions of this area and consists of five chapters, namely, The Legend of Greenwood Pass, Education of Greenwood Pass during the Anti-Japanese War, The Trace of History, Natural Treasures of Greenwood Pass and Their Exploitation and The World of Literature, which are filled with local characteristics of Green Wood Pass. Nowadays, almost every tourist attraction in China has its English brochure. However, nearly all of the English versions have various mistakes. Besides, people pay little attention to the English versions for some could not even read English or the common Chinese tourists are not targeted readers, thus causing the confusion in brochures’ translation. The report of this translation program is based on the first chapter of this brochure and figures out some problems easily occurred through the whole process of translation including preparation before hand, word selection, and sentence translation etc., and then tackles the problems under the guidance of Skopos Theory. A variety of translation techniques such as literal translation and free translation are employed hopefully for providing for some methods to the translation of similar articles, which will not only attract more foreigners to explore the natural tourist resources but also will play a crucial role in introducing Chinese culture to the world.
