Globalization and increasing demand for tourism have contributed to the booming of outbound tourism.Outbound tourism,as one of the most direct means of cross-cultural communication,enables Chinese people to appreciate the exotic civilization of the foreign countries.In this process,tourism translation,especially the English-Chinese translation of relevant tourism information,is undoubtedly of great importance.Moreover,the study of translation of tourism texts has profound theoretical and practical significance.This is a translation practice report on Celebrity Cruises Tourist Brochure.Inspired from the internship experience in a translation company,the author takes the English-Chinese translation of the Celebrity Cruises Tourism Brochure published by Royal Caribbean Cruises Co.,Ltd.as the research object,and probes into the analysis of text type and stylistic writing features of cruise tourism English.In the light of the features of cruise tourism English,the author utilizes the Skopos Theory of German functionalist Hans Vermeer as the theoretical framework.In this thesis,the author analyzes the application of the three rules of Skopos Theory in the translation of tourist brochures from English to Chinese.The translation skills of tourist brochures,such as transliteration,restructuring,amplification,conversion,division etc.,are discussed via example analyses,so as to bring enlightenment and reference to the translation skills of cruise brochures. |
