This paper is designed to study how Adaptation Theory is used to guide translators in children’s literature translation. The author chooses Morg as the source text for translation with commentary because the simplicity of language and the vividness of plots are well presented in the novel. The paper reports how the author endeavors to reproduce the features of children’s literature in target language under the guidance of the Adaptation Theory.The paper starts with a brief introduction to the definition, value and importance of children’s literature. Then, it introduces the source text as well as how the features of children’s literature are showcased in the text. Afterward, the paper deals with the Adaption Theory, and elaborates on how the author applies this theory into translation practice with examples. Finally, the author talks about what has been learnt and what is to be improved during the process.Based on the analysis, it is suggested that translators get a thorough understanding and grasp of the Adaptation Theory to make a positive and dynamic adaptation in translating, choose the appropriate words, sentence patterns, rhetoric devices to cater to the social psychology, cultural tradition, as well as language tradition of different readers of different times and cultural backgrounds, with a view to rendering the flavor of the source text, as well as producing a simple and vivid target text for child readers.
