The legend of Liu Bowen is an important part of Zhejiang Province, WenchengCounty culture. At present, there are a lot of researchs on the legend of Liu Bowen, butmost of the studies are on exploring the relationship between the content and historicallegends from the angle of history and text, so there are certain limitations. In thecontext of the intangible cultural heritage protection, this paper analyzes the legend ofLiu Bowen’s elements, application process, protection problems, etc. This paper isdivided into three parts.In view of the inheritance of the contemporary legend Liu Bowen forms tend tobe single, and spread space shrinking, the first part being on the basis of the originalhistorical research, research the causes of the formation of the legend in history and thepower fundamentally, furthermore explore them in contemporary whether to continueto exist, and finally lay a solid foundation for researching the legend of thecontemporary inheritance and protection. Thus, with the need of daily production andlife, liu Bowen legend continually get rich and development. At present, the LiuBowen legends power in local beliefs, clan worship still exist, and continue to play arole in the daily lives of people.The second part studies the relation of Liu Bowen legends and people’s daily life,explore the legends current spread space and inheritance power. This part specificallyanalysis how the legend Liu Bowen play an important role in condensation of localcultural propaganda, clan consciousness and public faith, and explore the narrative inthe public community life and ceremonies.The last part analyzes legend Liu Bowen heritage elements, developmentdilemma and coping strategies from the angle of the intangible cultural heritage.Researching and protecting the legend of Liu Bowen that being as the intangiblecultural heritage, need to pay attention to not only the text of the legend, but the oral narrative, inheritance, community life, beliefs, rituals, media, and many other aspects.
