Cultural activities in Tai-hao mausoleum under the belief of Father Fuxi and Nuwa have a long history, widespread region and more devotees which are rare in domestic numerous Temple Fairs. As a witch dance to sacrifice human ancestor Fuxi and Nuwa,"Dan Jingtiao" condenses the culture of Eastern He’nan and shows the endless pursue to the cultural value of life which is mainly manifested on Chinese traditional virtues-"filial piety". Therefore doing some research on "Dan Jingtiao" has great significance to develop and expand Chinese traditional culture. This thesis,"Dan Jingtiao" as a case study, excavates its deep cultural connotation and causes through the historical and cultural origins and dance forms.This thesis is divided into four parts. The first part mainly summarizes the historical and cultural origins according to current documents. Based on the materials from field work, the second part analyzes, concludes and refines accompaniment of music, dance composition, language, and costumes including performance mechanisms of "Dan Jingtiao" with the research methods of choreoecology, dance morphology and as well as some related theories. The third part interprets cultural connotation hiding behind the dance, combining Chinese traditional philosophy, traditional ethics, mythology, cultural anthropology, semiotics and other related theories. The last part explores the culture causes with the methods of environmental factors in choreoecology.
