A Report On The Translation Of Guidelines For Open Data Policies

This report is based on the translation of Guidelines for Open Date Policies which is published and updated by Sunlight Foundation on its website in2014. By making analysis of the translation in the aspects of vocabulary and sentence, this paper summarizes the difficulties in the translation process and some reflections of the author herself. The aim of this report is to apply functional equivalent translation theory, methods and skills the author has learned as a post graduate student to translation practice in order to understand translation theory more profoundly and work towards the correction of translation habits, which will improve capability of translation practice.This report consists of four parts. The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the translation task and background, including the source of the text, the background introduction and the analysis of features in the text. The second part introduces translation process which consists of pre-translation preparation, translation and proofreading. The third part, analysis of translation, includes some typical translation examples as well as analysis. Translation summary comes as the fourth part which includes reflections on the problems in translation process.
