"Mirror" image permeates with its powerful vitality among the arts of paintingand further developed into one of the oldest traditions in the field of painting motif,showing a colorful situation. Not only in the field of painting art formed the ethical andmoral enlightenment as the main function of the mirror, but also to express theiremotions formed mainly focussed on the mirror. But these are not the most excitingpoint of the mirror with a combination of painting, so we need to make a depthunderstanding from "mirror" image in the painting presenting a variety of ways,symbolic meaning and aesthetic. This article seeks to both time and space from thepainting of the "mirror" image to sort out a comprehensive, systematic, clear mirror toexplore this traditional motif painting subtle changes in the process of developmentand rheology, and on this basis to further understanding of the humanself-consciousness development context and the mirror motif continues this traditionand development of modern painting.In this article, a representative of each historical period paintings in the "concretereality","mysterious phantom","different perspectives of transformation" and the artsas a starting point, trys to put forward a number of ideas to interpretation of specialsignificance in the painting exist in mirror, such as special religious meaning, visualfun, purposeful "mirror" image reproduction "non-visual domain space","moralmirror","without the presence of a mirror" etc., the above all are the core of this article.This paper proposes a hope of such a view: the mirror is not only a practical matteraccording to vessel function, it also has a special aesthetic value and symbolic meaning.As a special aesthetic objects in painting,"Mirror" image which holds the meaning ofcultural connotation existence and aesthetic value is far beyond the mirror itself.
