It was language that always cogitates upon a communicative tool. The most important function of language is to build up and maintain social relationship between people. Actually, English teaching is such an interactive language activity.And various interactions take place in classroom which permitting learners to acquire the language. Researches have proved that classroom interaction acts at a very important role in improving learners’ second language (English) proficiency and teaching efficiency. In recent years, more and more attention has been paid to the field of language pedagogy with great development of science and economy in China. Consequently, the communicative approach has been widely applied. And the second language teachers in China have gradually realized the importance of classroom interaction in Second Language Learning(SLL). They are turning their previous "telling "teaching model into a collaborative learning approach which can provide learners with more classroom participation opportunities. The classroom teaching vision attracted the writer’s interest. Therefore he would take his college for example, to make the further studies on this interactive teaching approach.Taking the theories of the law of foreign language learning, the theories of social constructivism, the communicative language teaching and language learning as its theoretical basis, the interactive approach provides the college learners with good learning atmosphere, stimulates their motive in second language learning, helps them become more independent and initiative in learning. To be exact, the interactive approach is a teaching method for teachers to create an interactive situation by communication and association with learners, so that both the teaching and learning can be more effective. This study is mindful of the fundamental interests of improving the learners’ comprehensive quality, aims to investigate the interactive teaching and its effects on learners’ response in college English classroom. The author observed two second years public English classes of non-English majors in his college, with the help of observation and questionnaires and later conversation analysis.This paper is divided into six parts. At the first part, the author introduces the importance of learning motivation and interactive teaching in college English class, and put forward what’s problem of this paper. The second part gives a literature review of this thesis, and the third part of this paper describes the theory and research of interactive teaching and learning motivation, and describes the relationship between the two aspect. At the same time, it also proposes the concept that culture must promote student learning motivation through interactive classroom teaching. The fourth part shows that present study of motivation and interactive teaching. And Part V discusses how to solve the problem. Conclusion is part of the sixth. The writer hopes this thesis will have a little contributory to effective language teaching and learning, at the same time to the research of teaching learners how to learn the second language.
