With the rapid development of information technology has brought the globalintegration, social English proficiency for talent increasing, especially English languagecommunication skills. The Ministry of Education established The New "College EnglishCurriculum Requirements" which emphasize teacher need to improve student’s Englishlanguage proficiency, especially in listening and speaking in the teaching objectives.Inthe early research shows that45.9%of the students show that in English class mainlyteacher-centered teaching methods now,70.3%of the students show that their listeningand speaking generally,70.3%of students have little chance to speak English in theclassroom. Interactive teaching model emphasizes interactive participation of studentsin the classroom, to apply it to English class. Interactive teaching model providesstudents more space to communicative in English. It can improves their Englishcommunication skills.Interactive teaching model emphasizes interactive participation of students in theclassroom, whose application in English class will provide students with more space forcommunication and improve their English communication skills. Currently, themultimedia teaching in college English classroom makes teaching resources more richand diverse, but its weak interaction can’t improve the teaching efficiency in class."Interactive whiteboard" has the dual advantages of the traditional teaching andmultimedia teaching, and its introduction to the English class can provide a powerful interactive environment and an effective solution to students’ low interactiveparticipation in English class.Firstly, this paper analyzes the advantage of the interactive teaching in Englishteaching at the university, and introduces the development and teaching functions ofinteractive whiteboard. Second, a new interactive whiteboard-based interactive teachingEnglish reference model is put forward according to the constructivist learning theory,theory of second language acquisition and interaction. Third, in the paper theperspective of the interaction of the current English class and the feasibility ofinteractive whiteboard-based interactive teaching is studied through the questionnairesurvey respectively from the student and teacher perspective, and on this basis, ateaching example is the designed. Finally, we observed the traditional English teachingand English teaching based on an interactive whiteboard by Flanders InteractionAnalysis System. The observation records show that interactive whiteboard-basedinteractive teaching can effectively improve rate of students’ participation at the Englishclassroom, which provides a new solution to the quality of interactive teaching andlearning during the college English teaching.
