This article is mainly about the bronzes with inscriptions casted by “qingong”and “qinzi”. Collecting and collating the published materials so far, we get thirty-eightbronzes with the inscription “qingong” and fourteen bronzes with “qinzi”.We focus onthe issue of inscriptions’ interpretation and the bronzes’ casting ages. From theperspective of times, these bronzes all belong to the Chunqiu period. And in terms ofnumbers, they not only account for the key component of the Qin bronzes but also themain portion of Qin’s whole unearthed document in the period of Chunqiu. Thesematerials are very valuable for the research on Qin’s early history and its chirographycharacteristics.The content of this article includes the following four sections:First is the introduction part. It gives a summary about the Qin characters’research situation and progress in Chunqiu period from three aspects: the bronzes withinscriptions, the stones with inscriptions and other unearthed objects with the wordput down by ink. The focal point is on the history and recent advance of “qingong”and “qinzi” bronzes’ study. Then it explicates the significance of the research topicand defines the scope of the dissertation.In Chapter One, we give a collation and research on the “qingong” bronzes withinscriptions in the following three parts: the “qingong” bronzes excavated in Dabuzi,Taigongmiao’s “qingong” bronzes and other discoveries of “qingong” bronzes. Eachpart embraces the bronze’s essential information and its dating research.Chapter two mainly introduces the collation and research on the “qinzi” bronzeswith inscriptions. Firstly, we comb these materials in three classes as follows: thebronze weapons, vessels and instruments with the discussion and analysis of thebronzes’ dates in archaeological method. Secondly, on the basis of previous researchresults, we specialize in the research of qinzi’s identity and the arguments on whether“qinzi” is a special appellation or a general call.The appendix part includes: a chronology about Qin bronzes in Chunqiu period,a textual research about qingonggui’s transmission and description.
