Cause Analysis Of Regicide Phenomenon In Jin State Duirng The Spring And Autumn Period

In the Spring and Autumn Period, the rank order supported byWestern Zhou’s system of rites and music was severely challenged. Also,the patriarchal system building to the lineal primogeniture system andenfeoffment system were gradually disintegrating. These lead to frequentregicide occurrence and of all the states in this period, Jin is especiallyoutstanding. The reason involves political, economic, military and socialfield. Researches on these reasons can help us get better acquainted withthe changes on government structure, economic form, military thinkingetc. of Jin state.This paper is composed by7chapters. Chapter1is introduction, adescription of research status and the significance of the research topicand the definition and development history of regicide phenomenon.Chapter2–chapter6is mainly on the leading cause of frequentregicide occurrence, and for these reasons for further analysis andin-depth discussion. With analysis, it can be concluded as follows:“Quworeplaced Yi” and “Li Ji Rebellion”; clan abolishment regime of Jin;Bureaucrats of different surname grabbing the power of politics, economy,military force etc.; the damage of patriarchal system causes blunted sense of kinship; fatuity and cruelty of kings etc..Chapter7makes a conclusion on the reasons, and I realize that allthose I have done (analysis and research on the reason of regicide) can, tosome extent, help deepen our understanding of various areas of Jin stateand explore social pattern development, historic features anddevelopment trend of Spring and Autumn Period. For example, clanabolishment regime is a special political system of Jin. It is not also theimportant reason of the death of Duke Ling and Duke Li whenbureaucrats of different surname graded the power and conflicted withmonarch, but also the cause of political demise of Jin state and deeplyaffect the social pattern; And, strong bureaucrats’ dictator is also animportant reason. This chapter describes many historic features of thisperiod from politic, economy, military etc., such as the fight for powerand profit among bureaucrats and monarch within the state, theimprovement of social productivity, the rise of emerging landlord classbecause of the legalization of private land, great power striving forhegemony and so on. Besides, one significant cause is the damage ofpatriarchal system. In this chapter we can see the weakness sense ofkinship and ceremony disintegration in the Spring and Autumn Period.
