A Study On The Love And Gender Relations Of Luyou’s Ci

Lu You（1125-1210）, with the style name Wu Guan and pseudonym Fang Weng,was regarded as the Four Greatest Writer of Southern Song Dynasty with You Mao,Yang Wanli and Fan Chengda. His lyrics manuscript Wei Nan has about144lyrics,which has less achievement than his poems. But the value in thought and art of hislyrics should not be underestimated. His love masterpiece Phoenix Hairpin has longbeen the hot topic of academic research. On the basis of the other scholar’s academicresearch achievement, the thesis not only focuing on Lu You’s love Ci writing but alsotry to make innovation.This thesis is divided into3chapters. It is mainly about the background of LuYou’s work and the influence of geisha system in Song Dynasty on his love Ci writing.In his life, Lu You has three love experience. The short but unforgettable love with MsTang allowed him to write the moving poem Shen Garden. After this, he married MsWang and had a concubine Ms Yang. His rich love experience laid a basis on his Ciwriting. In Lu You’s works, the Ci to geisha occupied the large percentage, which isclosely related to the social atmosphere and geisha system.Regarding Phoenix Hairpin as the mainline, we reread Lu You’s Shen Gardenlyrics. From Song Dynasty, there are many literatures recording Phoenix Hairpin,such as Chen Hu’s Anecdotes of the Old and Zhou Mi’s Vulgarism, and all theseworks record that this Ci was written when Lu You met his ex-wife Tang Wan. Butour thesis has found the relevant materials to overthrow these saying and try to provethat this Ci was written for Ms Shen, and this Ci was not written in Shen Garden.Mentioning Shen Garden, we cannot neglect the Shen Garden poem. In this thesis, wereread the poem of Shen Garden of Yuji Temple, Two Poems of Shen Garden, VisitShen Pavilion at Night and Southern City to rebuild the love tragedy of Lu You andTang Wan.The genre and content of Lu You’s love Ci are mainly classified into love Ci,gaudy lyrics and Boudoir love Ci in Chapter3. We also analyze these relevant worksin detail. The researches into Lu You’s genre are summarized and analyzed such as Qin Yuanchun, Memoir of Qin, and Partridge. Finally, the thesis states the artisticcontribution of Lu You’s love Ci.
