| Gift culture is one of the most important cultures.Since ancient times, gifts have been a very common social phenomenon, particularly inmodern time societies. Different people have different reasons for giving gifts; for differenttargets, and have different gift selections. People have a lot of opinion on gifts; however, theauthor is afraid that gift culture is not that understandable.Through this research, the author found out that people even poorly understand their owngift culture. Being as a Mongolian graduate student in China, the author is so interested in theMongolian and Chinese culture, and in determining the strength of the Mongolia-China culturalexchanges, in particular. So, the author combined the current social phenomena, with a hope tostudy the Mongolian and the Chinese gift culture as a starting point.Mongolia and China are neighbors, and have a lot in common regarding the gift-givingculture. However, there are many different aspects, and a very few research has been done onthis regard. Therefore, a comparative study of Mongolia and China’s gift-giving culture will beconducted.The first chapter will be in conjunction with their thinking, indicating the significance ofthe topic, and reviewing research studies and theses at home and abroad.The second chapter will be a brief introduction on the Mongolian and Chinese gift-givingculture, while the third and the fourth chapters respectively include detailed classifications onthe Mongolian and the Chinese gift culture.Through this study, the fifth chapter is to compare between the two gift cultures. Itincludes depth analysis of the different causes and reasons. |
