The Study Of The Pili Puppet Drama From The Perspective Of The Light Worship

This paper aims at disscussing the theme of the Pili PuppetDrama from the perspective of the Light Worship myth. The contentof Pili Puppet Drama mainly refers to the war story between theluciferous gods and stygian evils.The story symbolizes good and evilin human nature as well as wretchedness and hope in the real worldby praising the luciferous gods and denouncing the stygian devils.Chapter1mainly introduces the Light Worship, a phenomenon ofreligion.I give a precise definition of the Light Worship. The LightWorship is human’s worship to the Light gods. Then I give severalexamples of the Light Worship phenomenon. And I also discuss itsinflunences on literature.The second chapter analyses narrative frame of the drama, thebattle of light vs darkness,and introduces some myth morifs of thisstory.Chapter3discusses the wonderful characterization of this story.I borrow the Buddhist idea about the classication of light, the wis-dom light,the body light,and the object light. I think that the lightgods have all of these types.Chapter4disccusses two symbolic meanings of the Light wor- ship myth. The first symbolic meaning is good and evil of humanity,and the other is the wrechedness and hope in the real world.In the background of the last chapter states that the Pili PuppetDrama, as a masterpiece of new myth works, contains many newelements of the spirit of the age. They mainly include extensivematerial-drawing and mystifying history, the character of light-bringer under the appearance of religious recluse, human’s va-lue coming from the myth and new connotations of “Xia”(hero).
