With the acceleration of globalization, these years have witnessed the burgeoning development of intercultural communication in the fields of politics, economy, technology, culture, media and so on. Accordingly, the flourishing intercultural communication facilitates the advancement of translation industry to a great extent. In order to provide professional translators and interpreters for translation market, Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) Education Program was established in 2007, and by 2014,206 colleges and universities have been permitted to enroll students majoring in MTI. In spite of the rapid development of the MTI program, the Chinese translation market still faces an acute shortage of high-quality translators and interpreters, especially those proficient in translating/interpreting Chinese into foreign languages.Concerned with the large gap between the demand and supply of high-level translators and interpreters, this thesis firstly reflects on the problems of current MTI education in China, including its teaching principle, teaching approach, curriculum design, teaching platform, the role of MTI teachers, and teaching target. Then, based on "Children-Centeredness", "Teacher-Centeredness", "Project-Based Learning", "Computer-Assisted Instruction", "Web-Based Instruction", "Constructivism", "Harmonious Education" and "The Theory of Human All-Round Development", the author puts forward the concept of "SPORTS" and gives a specific exposition of it. On the one hand, "SPORTS" literally means that MTI students like athletes, who have to practice thousands of times to hone their skills. On the other hand, each letter in "SPORTS" respectively stands for "Student-Centered Principle", "Project-Based Approach", "Orientation-Based Curriculum Design", "Resource-Integrated Platform" "Teacher-Assisted Management", and "Sustainability-Orientated Target". At last, combing with translator training held by universities and colleges at home and abroad, this thesis illustrates feasible strategies to apply the concept of "SPORTS" in MTI education. These six aspects of "SPORTS" are interrelated and compatible, for the purpose of constructing an integrated educational model for the MTI program in China.
