From 1840 to 1949, the Chinese modern educational novels had experienced the processof the production, development and prosperity. And, the gloomy-like changes of the Chineseeducation occurred during this period. The time of more than one hundred years is very shortmoment in human history. But, the drastic changes occurred in modern China, includingcomplex events and ideas, repeated reform in the education system and numerous and diverseeducational thinking. All the educational novels created by the person in that time wereconcerned of the contents in the education fields, such as production of educational events,development of educational system, evolution of educational thought, educated individualgrowth etc. That recorded some precious fragments in the process of educationalmodernization. So, it has very unique academic value and practical significance that theeducational novels in the hundred years are studied from an educational perspective. Thispaper is divided into three parts, including introduction, body consisted of four chapters andconclusion.The first part is the introduction. In this part, some contents are discussed mainly,including the reason of topic selection, the research status at home and abroad, the conceptsdefined and a series of research methods. The purpose of this part is to show the researchsignificance and the research base and to define the research scope. The selected educationalnovels in this paper are the ones which taken the education phenomenon as the themes orcould presented the educational materials. In these novels, the educational system, theeducational concepts and the life of the teachers and students were described, which hadrealistic characteristics.The second part is the body, which includes the second chapter to the fifth chapter. In thesecond chapter, the development overview of the Chinese modern educational novels isanalyzed from a macro point of view. By analyzing the educational novels from both of itsproduction and development aspects, some results are acquired that the background of itsproduction is described, the decline of feudal tradition education and the rise of neweducation are introduced and novel revolution is the direct driver of promoting the birth anddevelopment of the educational novels. Then, in this paper chapter, the development contextof the Chinese modern educational novels is sketched. And, the evolution process of theeducational novel topics is given with the changes of the times. In the third chapter to the fifth chapter, the different novels are discussed in detail, which is between late Qing dynasty andearly republic of China, between early republic of China and before anti-Japanese war orbetween the anti-Japanese war and the founding of the people's republic of China. Somecontents are analyzed, including many educational problems and education reforms reflectedfrom the educational novels and the implement prospect described in the educational novels.In which, the conflicts from academic reforms, all kind of figures in the educationalinstitutional reforms and women's education etc are included. The history of the educationalenlightenment in the educational novel map is revealed, which includes the criticism for theold feudal education and the description of the process of forming a new educationalphilosophy. The diverse teacher images are described in the war years, including theintroduction of the educational status in the KMT-ruled areas and the description of theEducation boom in the base areas. In each period of time, a typical writer is selected toanalyze, for example Bao Tian-xiao, Ye Sheng-tao and Lao She etc, whose purpose is toexcavate the text of the educational novels further.The third part is the conclusion. Based on the above study, the conclusion is acquired inthis part. The Chinese modern educational novels promote the educational development andinspire the research of the educational history. Its study has the important reference functionfor contemporary education. For example, it influences the selection orientation of thecontemporary education for the traditional basic educational content. It causes the thinking forthe position of the current teachers and the attention for the contact between the education andthe students. It tries to propose the scientific suggestion for the development and futurestrategy of the contemporary education of our country.
