In2013, Alice Munro was the first writer who won the Prize byshort stories in history of the Noble Prize and she was represented as“master of the contemporary short story” and “CanadianChekhov”.She was the first Canadian and the13th woman to receivethe Nobel Prize in Literature. As an woman, she nearly created200short stories which were short but meaningful. After a close and deepobservation, we could saw the tragedy ending of ordinary personespecially the women in families, society and the world.The viewpoint of feminism and narrative were the main hot spotsof the current situation of Munro’s novels. In the thesis, the authoranalyzed Munro’s novel by the female philosophy of existentialism andother relevant theories. Based on novels of Runaway, Dance of theHappy Shades and Lives of Girls and Women the author analyzed thebitter and the sweet time of the women’s life experience in herstories.The thesis can be divided into five parts. The firstpart----Introduction. In the part, the author made an introduction toMunro’s life, career, the study of current situation to her novels indomestic and abroad and a brief introduction to the female philosophy of existentialism. In the second part, the author analyzed the mianreasons of the Other situation of the women in Munro’s stories and thetypical example of female the Other been limited by society----thetraditional female who cooperated with male. In the third part,theauthor talked about the Other’s situation of the women in her storieswhich also could be called the predicament of female survival in themale power society, and concluded the difficult situations of career,virtue and marriage faced by women. In the fourth part, the authordiscussed the awareness of feminism and women who struggled outof the bad condition, what they did, what they chose and how their lifeendings were. The fifth part----Conclusion. It was a comparison of thethree women mentioned above. After the comparison, the author gotthe features of those women who become successful by the choice ofpour-soi, and knew the common place of Simone de Beauvoir’s femalephilosophy of existentialism and the pour-soi mentioned in Munro’snovels.
