Santou yangko is an important form of folk art of Lin County,which is famous for its leading dancer and singer holding a floweryumbrella. It is the product of Lin County’s social and historicaldevelopment. Santou yangko is mainly performed in Lin County andits surrounding counties, such as Liu Lin, Li Shi.etc. But it isparticularly prevalent in Lin County. Santou yangko is used only forsacrifice at first, but later developed into a folk art activityparticipated by all the people during the festival, which collectssongs, dancing and music together.Santou yangko is rooted in the folk, and therefore, as a way tocommunicate with external villages, it is closely related to the localfolk. In the process of change from traditional pattern to modernform, its performance content of folk custom is more and morewidely, involving sacrifice belief, weddings, entertainment,celebration, daily life and other aspects. It is a complete folkcollection of local society. Lin County Santou yangko, as the localart of Lin County, has unique local features and is suit for bothrefined and popular tastes. Lin County Santou yangko has continued to change. It waspopularized in the early republic of China, and became prosperousin anti-Japanese period. And then, it was restricted during the theGreat Cultural Revolution, but after the Cultural Revolution, the artwas in full swing. New changes have taken place for Santou yangkoafter entering the new century. Firstly Santou yangko was combinedwith other folk art, then under the influence of foreign culture, inorder to adapt to the change of times and the fondness of audience,Santou yangko has changed a lot from its forms to its content. Aftera number of field survey and investigation of fieldwork on Santouyangko, the writer understand that the Santou yangko had changedto a degree in its performance time, performance places, singingtunes and lyrics form, transmission carrier, economic operation.Especially when the folk songs, little folk song, folk opera, folkdance and folk rap added into it, the Santou yangko became richerand more colorful.In nearly a decade (2005-2015), with the development of moderninformation technology, a new form of the Santou yangko hasappeared, that is network yangko, namely yangko lovers on theInternet through QQ group, post bar, micro letter group composedyangko. Santou yangko is a kind of homesick Lin County man’sspiritual symbol, it uses this unique convenient transmissionnetwork, and needn’t to waste too much energy, financial andmaterial resources. They can organize song contest questions andsinging songs through the internet anytime and anywhere, with theaid of computer, even mobile phones and other mobilecommunications can do. Thus, it provides a convenient and extensive communication platform for the people in and outside LinCounty to express their homesickness. Network yangko lyrics withits obvious prominent theme and content, unique and special formhas attracted many participants. The yangko village groups alsohave been set up quickly to interact with each other. This is a hugechange in the history of the development of Santou yangko.Although Lin County Santou yangko has been listed asstate-level non-material cultural heritage, the existing situation ofthe traditional Santou yangko also suffered from a great challenge:the impact of the entertainment diversification, the loss ofaudience and participants, lack of governmental propaganda for itsprotection, and other reasons. They all impact the traditionalyangko and stage yangko.
