The Chinese nation has five thousand years of splendid history and culture, thecultural diversity of today, can still stand in the east of the world, this is not any othercountry match. In the long history of Chinese culture, Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism,three kinds of philosophy under the influence, formed a unique Oriental aesthetic conceptand other concepts, such as hyperbole, ideographic expression, artistic pursuit, the spirit offreehand brushwork. And on the basis of creating such as the world cultural heritage"Dunhuang Grottoes", international reputation high "six steed" and other excellent sculptureworks of art. But in the economic globalization today, we have a long tradition of nationalculture by the thought of the impact of western culture, the traditional sculpture art hasgradually been "Westernization". Before the reform and opening up, in France and the SovietUnion sculpture style, Chinese sculpture began to develop along the road of realism. Afterthe reform and opening up, along with the influx of Western thought, and began to learn toAmerica as the center of the western modernism art. The introduction of Western sculpture isfrom the creation method to introduce aesthetic evaluation system, and become the Chinamodern sculpture creation and aesthetic style of the mainstream over a period of time. But inthe study of Western sculpture at the same time, artists have gradually realized theimportance of China culture, and integrate into the traditional cultural symbols in his works.This paper attempts to understand the typical artists and works to explore ethnic andartistic features of traditional sculpture and modern sculpture art creation in the analysis, putforward in the cultural context of pluralism, the profound significance of traditional cultureon modern sculpture and modern sculpture nationalization value. This paper suggests that inthe process of modern sculpture, sculpture form from abroad at the same time, moreimportant is to inherit and develop the traditional Chinese sculpture art, the traditional ideas and elements into the creation of sculpture, broaden the creative ideas. This can not onlypromote the development of sculpture itself, is also the need of the times and thedevelopment of national culture.
