Process Analysis And Improvement Strategy Of Consecutive Interpreting:A Project Report On Finnish Cleantech Promotion Conference

Consecutive interpreting is widely applied in international conferences, mainly for press conference and various small and medium meetings. It plays significant role in interpreting field. With a large quantity of records and written files from courses for Master degree and interpreting practice as research objects, this report analyzes major problems in consecutive interpreting project of "Finnish Cleantech Promotion Conference" and makes a conclusion about problems that will probably be encountered in the listening and note-taking phase and speech production phase of consecutive interpreting at large.With reference to research outcomes of scholars both home and abroad, and individual interpreting practice, this report analyzes the process of consecutive interpreting from perspectives of source language comprehension, note-taking and short-term memory and target language production, and explores how to apply relevant skills to improve the quality of consecutive interpreting by preparing before interpreting, shaping individual note system, conducting restatement exercise and lifting public speaking capability. Putting interpreting learners first, this report puts forward solutions to problems appearing in the process of consecutive interpreting after deep consideration and analysis of individual interpreting practice and others’ references, hoping that it can be of value for interpreting learners and bring inspiration for interpreters to come.
