| With the accelerated process of globalization in the 21st Century, the exchange of international information is increasing, thus people are eager to know what’s happening on the other side of earth. Thanks to the rapid development of the mass media and satellite communications, live TV broadcast enters into people’s daily life. But how audiences can cross language and cultural barriers has become an issue. Therefore, an emerging form of TV simultaneous interpreting has come into being to meet people’s need of getting global information while staying at home. Currently, TV simultaneous interpreting has become one of the most important and timely ways to spread live TV broadcast. So audiences and TV station staffs are really appreciating this special type of TV simultaneous interpreting.In China, the rise and development of TV simultaneous interpreting is still in a preliminary stage and the related researches are quite limited. After reading a lot of literature reviews home and abroad, the author tries to study TV simultaneous interpreting from an innovative perspective. Based on famous Interpretive Theory and Effort Model, this thesis conducts a quality comparison of TV simultaneous interpreting from mainland CCTV and Hong Kong Phoenix TV upon the latest study material named Malaysian PM Najib Razak’s Press Statement on MH370 on March 15th 2014. This thesis aims to compare the quality of TV simultaneous interpreting in two regions, analyze reasons for quality difference and propose strategies for the improvement of the overall quality of TV simultaneous interpreting.This study is of strongly practical significance as it provides some strategies and help for TV simultaneous interpreters. The author hopes it can enrich the domestically limited researches in TV simultaneous interpreting and attract more attention from scholars and experts so as to promote a wider and further development of TV simultaneous interpreting in China. |
