| At present, simultaneous interpreting of live TV broadcast is becoming widely-used. It is increasingly showing its unique advantages and the significant role in TV activities. And it has become an important way for broadcasting live news at the earliest time. Due to the effective application of simultaneous interpreting, live TV broadcast, international breaking news and its coverage in particular, will be presented to the audience both at home and abroad quickly, and the effect of live TV broadcast will be greatly improved.Simultaneous interpreting of live TV broadcast is still a newly-emerging interpreting mode. For the time being, researches in this field are just at exploratory stage. With the simultaneous interpreting of "President Barack Obama’s Remarks on the Death of Osama Bin Laden" as an example, this thesis talks about the distinctive features of simultaneous interpreting of live TV broadcast in details. Via the case study, on the one hand, this thesis aims to explore three major principles and strategies applied effectively in the process of simultaneous interpreting of live TV broadcast, namely, the principle of syntactic linearity, the strategy of proper anticipation and timely and appropriate adjustment. On the other hand, with the comparison between two interpretation versions from Phoenix Satellite TV and CCTV, the thesis conducts further analyses and makes an assessment of the simultaneous interpreting effect with convincing examples. By analyzing the interpreters’ on-the-spot interpreting performances, the thesis is also expected to explore how the TV simultaneous interpreter can make efforts to improve the quality of simultaneous interpreting of live TV broadcast.In view of the situation, the author holds that it is really worthy of doing a research on this topic, in the hope that more attention will be paid to the simultaneous interpreting of live TV broadcast so that more researches will be carried on in this field to promote its development. |
